MHSAA presents Blackmon scholarships to two Marion High School seniors

Marion High School Alumni Association congratulates this year’s winners of the James Blackmon Family Scholarship: Rachel Gillett and Jasmine Gillett, both members of Marion High School’s Class of 2024.

This scholarship assists students in overcoming obstacles to reach for their dreams. Rachel and Jasmine were awarded $500 each.

The Blackmon family has provided scholarships for several years, but this is the first year the MHSAA has had the honor of presenting the awards to the honorees.

Jasmine and Rachel Gillett, both members of Marion High School Class of 2024, are this year's James Blackmon Family Scholarship honorees. Here, they pose for a photo with James Blackmon and the Marion High School Alumni Association Board.

Jasmine Gillett is a member of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and the Black History Club. She plans to attend Taylor University for psychology, with a career goal of child psychologist and advocacy.

Rachel Gillet is a member of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and the Black History Club. She plans to attend college for nursing, with a career goal of nurse practitioner.
